Current reports

The agriculture and water portfolio’s regulatory reform achievements for 2015 are contained in a whole-of-government red tape reduction report tabled in parliament on 15 March 2016.

Previous reports

• The portfolio’s first annual report in 2014 PDF [1.9 MB, 37 pages] Word [1.0 MB, 37 pages] reported on activities undertaken by the portfolio in the first year of the government’s three year deregulation agenda (now known as the regulatory reform agenda). The report includes the results of a portfolio-wide regulation audit, details of the establishment of the portfolio’s deregulation unit (now known as the regulatory reform unit) and describes a range of regulatory changes that were undertaken during the year.
  
  
• Reporting related to water policy matters for 2014 can be found in the Department of the Environment’s annual deregulation report.
  
  
• A whole-of-government deregulation report for 2014 was tabled in parliament on 18 March 2015.

Regulation impact statements

Regulation impact statements completed by the portfolio are published by the Office of Best Practice Regulation following a final decision by the relevant authority.

Consultation​

The Agricultural Industry Advisory Council has fulfilled the role of ministerial advisory council for the agriculture portfolio under the deregulation agenda (now regulatory reform agenda). It has provided advice on opportunities to reduce regulatory burden and considered matters such as the portfolio’s progress to implement the deregulation agenda and development of regulator performance frameworks by portfolio regulators. The views of stakeholders and regulated entities are key to targeting efforts to reform and improving regulation and regulatory practice. Views and submissions are welcome to the regulatory reform unit, or through the department’s general inquiry contact form.​
