Review of the Rural Financial Counselling Service

This report provides NRAC’s discussion and findings on the need and awareness of the RFCS, its effectiveness, current structure and its future role.

In conducting its review, NRAC consulted a wide range of stakeholders – including boards and executive officers of service providers, rural financial counsellors, clients of the RFCS and key representatives from industry, including peak farming bodies, private-sector agricultural consultants, banking and finance sectors, community organisations, and Australian, state and territory government departments.

NRAC found the RFCS program is providing quality outcomes for primary producers, fishers and small rural businesses that are suffering financial hardship, and made a number of findings and recommendations.
