Issued: 15 March 2017
The purpose of this notice is to advise brokers and importers of peanut products and pistachio products about a change to the tariff codes to which an existing Community Protection question applies. This change is being made following the department’s review of the risk foods currently being inspected and analysed for the hazard aflatoxin.
What has changed?
From 22 March 2017, the following Community Protection (CP) question will also be applied to goods lodged in the ICS under tariff code 2103900018:
‘IFIS: DO THE GOODS CONTAIN MORE THAN 30% PEANUTS OR PISTACHIOS OR MORE THAN 30% PEANUT PRODUCTS OR PISTACHIO PRODUCTS? (ANSWER NO TO THIS QUESTION IF THE GOODS ARE ONLY PEANUT OIL OR PISTACHIO OIL)’
The department anticipates that brokers will be able to respond to the question based on information already available.
This change will ensure that all relevant peanut and pistachio products are referred for inspection and analysis under the Imported Food Inspection Scheme.
