Port Lincoln to host Regional Outlook conference
10 May 2016
Economic trends, commodity updates, industry analysis and a host of local issues affecting primary production will be on the agenda when the ABARES Regional Outlook conference comes to Port Lincoln on 18 May.
Featuring speakers from ABARES, industry leaders and local producers from across the region, the conference is an important opportunity for commodity forecasts and research results to be provided directly to the region’s community.
ABARES Executive Director, Karen Schneider, said the one-day conference is a must for those working in primary industries on the Eyre Peninsula and across South Australia.
“With new locally relevant economic data and analysis to help producers with business planning and forecasting, the Regional Outlook conference is a great way for delegates to update their industry knowledge and network with their professional colleagues,” Ms Schneider said.
“The sessions at the conference will focus on the range of industries on the Eyre Peninsular and within South Australia, including topics such as investing in rural industries, growing the grains industry, expanding fisheries opportunities and developing rural leaders.”
Conference presentations will span free trade agreements, weather and climate intelligence, sustainable growth in grain farming, the local fisheries and oyster industries, and case studies from regional businesses.
ABARES has partnered with Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) for the conference.
Speakers at the conference include:
- Jammie Penm, Robert Curtotti and David Mobsby (ABARES)
- Michael Growder (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade)
- Darren Ray (Bureau of Meteorology)
