ABARES Regional Outlook conference comes to Townsville
12 July 2016
Investing in rural industries, growing the northern beef industry and unlocking the production potential of the north are the key issues on the agenda when Townsville hosts the ABARES Regional Outlook conference on 27 July.
The conference will feature speakers from ABARES as well as industry leaders and local producers from North Queensland, covering topics such as the national and international issues affecting Queensland, free trade agreements, climate and weather trends, horticulture, irrigated agriculture and agricultural diversification in the north.
ABARES Executive Director Karen Schneider said the one-day conference was a must for those working in agricultural industries in North Queensland and beyond.
“The conference is an important opportunity for stakeholders in the agriculture sector to meet and discuss the latest economic trends, hear commodity updates and understand opportunities for the sector,” Ms Schneider said.
“With new, locally relevant commodity and economic data and analysis, the Townsville Regional Outlook conference will help inform delegates with business planning and forecasting.
“It is a great way for delegates to build on their industry knowledge and network with colleagues from businesses across the region,” Ms Schneider said.
Speakers at the conference include:
- Lisa Elliston and Trish Gleeson, ABARES
- Michael Growder, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
- Jeff Sabburg, Bureau of Meteorology
