Protected industrial action planned at Australian international airports

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) has advised of planned industrial action by the Department of Agriculture CPSU members over the coming week.

A range of work stoppages and bans have been proposed at Australian international airports, most notably on 21, 22 and 23 September.

This action has the potential to cause delays for international travellers at Australia’s international airports.

Concurrent action planned by Department of Immigration and Border Protection CPSU members may contribute to these delays.

Business continuity plans are activated during periods of industrial action that aim to minimise disruption to the department’s services and maintain the high standards of Australian biosecurity. The Department of Agriculture is maintaining communication with airports and airlines in relation to the proposed action and continuing to work in good faith with the CPSU and employee nominated representatives in negotiating a new enterprise agreement.
