The recruitment process for a replacement Chief Executive at Murray-Darling Basin Authority is underway, with national advertising on 7 January 2022.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank current retiring Chief Executive Phillip Glyde, for his leadership and dedicated service over the past 6 years.
Mr Glyde was deeply committed to the Murray-Darling Basin and its people and places, acting with integrity and professionalism.
For much of his tenure, large parts of the Basin have been in drought, adding to the challenge of achieving fair outcomes for stakeholders across a region that is home to more than 2 million Australians and 40% of Australia’s agricultural production.
The MDBA is an independent government agency who, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray–Darling Basin’s water resources in the national interest.
Their top priority is the wellbeing and resilience of the Basin’s river system, its people and places.
They run the River Murray on behalf of Basin states, and ensure water is delivered to towns, irrigators and wetlands and floodplains. They provide expert advice and management.
They advocate for the future of the most important water catchment in Australia and regularly report to government and the community on the progress and outcomes of the Murray–Darling Basin Plan.
The MDBA monitors and report on water take at a Basin and catchment scale.
They are a passionate team of river operators, scientists, engineers, modellers, water managers and administrators from the Basin, for the Basin.
