administered items revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities that the government controls, but which an agency or authority manages on the government's behalf
agvet chemicals chemicals used in agricultural and veterinary sciences
APS employee a person engaged under section 22, or a person who is engaged as an Australian public service employee under section 72 of the Public Service Act 1999
biosecurity the protection of the economy, environment and people's health from pests and diseases
biosecurity continuum the management of biosecurity risks offshore, at the border and onshore, with an emphasis on intelligence and information analysis, planning, verifying and auditing third-party service providers
certification of exports the provision of official documentation confirming that goods exported from Australia conform to the importing countries conditions
cost recovery the charging of fees to cover the costs of provision of government goods and services.
declared industry-owned companies an industry-owned company that has entered into a statutory funding agreement with the Australian Government
deliverables the mechanism by which outcomes will be achieved
Doha Round a round of World Trade Organization multilateral trade negotiations launched in Doha in November 2001
enterprise agreement an agreement between an employer and a group of employees, or between an employer and a union or unions representing employees, made under the Workplace Relations Act 1996
G20 the Group of Twenty forum for international economic cooperation, comprising members from 19 countries and the European Union
headcount the number of actual individuals—including staff on temporary transfer from other agencies and staff on any type of leave—employed at the time the data is collected. The total headcount figure only excludes office holders
key performance indicators a concise list of indicators that are used to measure agency effectiveness in achieving the government's outcomes
levies money collected and administered by DAFF on behalf of industry for use in research and development (R&D), marketing and promotion, plant and animal health programs and residue testing activities that benefit industry. In many cases, the Australian Government matches the R&D component of levies
market access the openness of a given market to foreign goods and services
outcomes the government's objectives in each portfolio area. Outcomes are desired results, impacts or consequences for the Australian community, as influenced by the actions of the Australian Government. Actual outcomes are assessments of the end results or impacts achieved
outputs the goods and services produced by agencies on behalf of government for external organisations or individuals. Outputs also include goods and services for other areas of government external to the agency
performance information evidence about performance that is collected and used systematically. Evidence may relate to appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency. It may be about outcomes, factors that affect outcomes and what can be done to improve them
program the name given to the variety of activities a government agency may undertake to achieve stated outcomes
Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements statements prepared by portfolios to explain additional Budget appropriations in terms of outcomes and outputs
Portfolio Budget Statements statements prepared by portfolios to explain the Budget appropriations in terms of outcomes and outputs (that is, where the appropriated funds are going to be spent)
purchaser–provider arrangements arrangements under which the outputs of one agency are purchased by another agency to contribute to outcomes. Purchaser-provider arrangements can occur between Australian Government agencies and state or territory government agencies or private sector bodies
quota a limit to the amount of a particular commodity that can be exported or imported
sanitary and phytosanitary relating to issues of human, animal and plant health, most often in regard to biosecurity measures
tariff tax or duty paid on imports or exports of particular commodity
