Drought Resilience Leaders
The 2021-22 Federal Budget provides an additional $4 million investment in Drought Resilience Leaders.
The Future Drought Fund is helping communities become more resilient.
This national program provides leadership training and mentoring opportunities for agricultural communities. The Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) will deliver it.
Participants will be able develop their leadership skills and capabilities. The program will:
- create a new generation of young and emerging leaders
- facilitate a culture of learning and knowledge sharing throughout agriculture-dependent communities.
Together with ARLF, the Australian Government is investing in a new generation of drought resilient leaders. The program gives farmers and regional communities an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through training and mentoring programs.
The leadership development element will be rolled out in two pilot regions – Goulburn Valley, Vic and Central West Qld -with the remaining 10 regions to follow soon after. These include Northern Wheatbelt, WA; Gascoyne Murchison, WA; Mallee, Vic; South West Qld; Eyre Peninsula – West, SA; Murray Lands, SA; Western NSW; North West Slopes & Plains (including Liverpool Plains), NSW; Katherine region, NT and North East Tasmania. Interested potential and current leaders within 12 selected regions across Australia are encouraged to apply directly to ARLF to participate in leadership development.
The program will foster a new generation of young and emerging leaders and encourage a culture of learning and knowledge sharing throughout agriculture-dependent communities.
