Science strategy

The departmental Office of the Chief Scientist is currently working to finalise a new Science Strategy and associated Action Plan. The new strategy will retain our strategic vision to have a connected departmental science community that efficiently and effectively underpins our work and is regarded highly both within our department and by all of our stakeholders.

Good science is the foundation of productive, competitive and sustainable agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries. It plays an essential role in public policy development and evidence-based decision-making across the department.

The strategy provides a high-level framework for the development of our science capability.

The action plan outlines the actions that the government will undertake to address the following focus areas identified within the strategy:
