Developing mandatory biofouling requirements
Biofouling is the accumulation of microorganisms, algae, plants and animals on submerged surfaces. Biofouling on vessels provides the opportunity for these organisms to be transported and establish outside their natural range with potentially significant adverse economic, social and environmental impacts.
We are considering options for mandatory requirements to manage biofouling in Australia.
