Live Animal Export Advisory Notices

NOTE: EANs making references to older legislation (e.g., the Export Control Act and the Australian Meat and Livestock Industry Act) are still in force and equivalent provisions in the Export Control Act 2020 and the Export Control Animals Rules 2021 apply.

Export Advisory Notices (EANs) inform exporters of livestock and livestock reproductive material on:

  • upcoming changes that may impact live export process or standards
  • recently implemented regulatory changes
  • items open for consultation
  • other information or notifications as needed.

Industry notice review – update June 2022

We’ve changed the way we use EANs. They’ll be used as a notification tool. Any ongoing requirements will be published on relevant web pages.

The EAN will point you to these web pages. The changes mean that current information is easily found. For example, requirements for approved arrangements will be on the approved arrangements web page. If something changes, we’ll send an EAN to notify you. The EAN will point you to more information on the approved arrangements web page.

We are gradually moving current requirements and information from previously issued EANs to our website. In the meantime, we’ve updated our EAN list to show current and expired EANs.

In March 2022 we created a new industry notice category which supplements existing EANs. These new notices are called Market Access Notices (MANs).

MANs are published on the Live Animals page in the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (Micor).

MANs are used to provide important market access information related to live animals. They may contain information relevant to specific export markets including sensitivities or changes to requirements.

MANs contain on-going information and the department will update previous notices as required. A current list is maintained on Micor.

MANs are issued using the same system and distribution list for EANs.
