You must submit an application to register, vary or revoke an export establishment.
Export registered establishments are premises that prepare prescribed goods for export. The Export Control Act 2020 and associated rules, detail what is a prescribed good. Preparing goods includes:
- Slaughter
- Boning
- Processing
- Inspecting
- Chilling
- Freezing
- Holding
- Producing
- Packing
- Treating
- Handling
- Dismembering
- Loading
- Storing
How to apply
You can apply to register, vary or revoke an export establishment by logging onto the department’s new online Export Service portal.
New users will need to create an account to register for the Export Service. Existing users will need to sign in. Within the Export Service, go to the ‘Establishments’ tab to submit an application.
Phase out of paper based forms
The Department is moving the application process to register, vary or revoke an export establishment to the online Export Service. To register a new establishment, you must apply via the Export Service.
As of 1 January 2024, all applications must be submitted via the Export Service.
The Department encourages submission of all applications via the Export Service, however, you may still apply via the PDF forms, to vary or revoke an existing establishment.

Applications may be assessed by relevant technical areas, including the Fit and Proper Persons Team.
For dairy, seafood or egg processing establishments
Before applying to register a dairy, seafood (including fishing vessel) or egg processing establishment, you must contact our export facilitator via dairyeggsfish@aff.gov.au
The facilitator will help you understand the relevant registration requirements and how to prepare for the registration process.
