2015-14 – Redesigned fees and levies begin 1 December 2015

This notice is of interest to clients of the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources who export, or are involved in the preparation of live animals/reproductive material for export from Australia.
The redesigned fees and levies come into effect as of 1 December 2015. The attached fact sheets outlines the changes for live animal exports.
New annual levy – Livestock exporters
Annual levies will apply to all licenced livestock exporters regardless of whether they export or not. Commencing from 4 January 2016, an invoice will be issued to all livestock exporters on a monthly basis until 30 June 2016. The invoice interval period will be reviewed for the commencement of the 2016/17 financial year.
The fees will be
- Exporters with an approved arrangement in place
- Exporting by air only $833.33 per month
- Exporting by sea only or by air and sea $1666.67 per month
- Exporters without an approved arrangement $2083.33 per month
A reduced fee option is available for small and infrequent exporters who send less than four consignments with a total of 400 animals in a year. The fee for these operators will be $5000 annually. Details of how to apply for this exemption will be available shortly.
New annual levies – Registered Premises
An annual levy of $5000 will apply to all livestock registered premise operators at the time of registration renewal.
Do you wish to cancel your livestock export licence or livestock premises registration?
If you do not plan to use your export licence or livestock premise registration, you can choose to cancel your current licence or registration and in turn you will not be issued an invoice for the relevant charges mentioned above. To advise us of your wish to progress the cancellation please send an email to Live Animal Export branch at Livestock Exp providing details of the export licence or livestock premises registration you wish to cancel.
