IFN 14-18 – ICS document code for raw (chilled or frozen) beef and beef products from Japan

30 October 2018

The purpose of this notice is to advise importers and brokers to provide the ICS document code (BSECERTJPR) when lodging a FID for raw (chilled or frozen) beef and beef products imported from Japan to ensure the reduced rate of inspection of five per cent is applied to the consignment.

Inspection of goods

At inspection, samples of the food will be taken where microbiological or chemical analysis is required to verify compliance with Australian food standards and to verify the adequacy of the certification arrangements in the exporting country.

Where there is evidence of non-compliance, the department will increase the inspection rate to 100 per cent until a satisfactory history of compliance has been demonstrated, which is usually taken to have occurred following five consecutive passes at inspection.

Further information

Current foreign government certification arrangements (including import requirements and ICS document codes) and further information about lodging declarations and documentation for imported food (including lodging a FID) can be found on the department’s website.
