Transition from ICON
The new Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system has replaced the Import Conditions (ICON) database. Many import permits granted from the ICON system will remain valid for up to two years after the BICON implementation, and the department will facilitate the use and management of these import permits.
ICON permit validity
Even though BICON has launched, your ICON granted permit will remain valid until the expiration date detailed on the permit, unless it is suspended, revoked or varied.
Managing ICON permit applications
If you submitted an ICON permit application prior to BICON’s launch on 23 November 2015 it will be processed, provided that the required documentation is provided to the department within 3 months of receiving the initial application.
If sufficient documentation is not provided within 3 months, you will be contacted by the department to discuss options for dealing with the application.
Managing ICON issued permits
If your import permit was granted from ICON, it will not be transferred into BICON. This means that you will not be able to view your ICON permit within your registered user account in BICON.
Varying your ICON issued permit
It is your responsibility to ensure that the information contained on you ICON import permit remains valid, up to date, and accurate.
If you need to vary your ICON issued permit, please contact the department by:
