Socio-economic effects of Commonwealth water recovery in the Murray-Darling Basin
Insights from the Regional Wellbeing Surveys (2013-2018)
Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment, September 2020.
As part of the University of Canberra’s regular Regional Wellbeing Surveys, irrigators across the Murray–Darling Basin have provided their views and experiences of Commonwealth water recovery programs. This has helped improve understanding of the socio-economic effects of these programs – in particular the experiences of irrigators involved in, or affected by on- and off-farm irrigation infrastructure upgrades and in selling water entitlements to the government.
The following reports present socio-economic insights from individual Regional Wellbeing Surveys along with a summary of the findings from the 2013-2016 surveys.
