Exotic pests and diseases could harm Australian agriculture and the environment. States and territories usually lead activities to respond to outbreaks of exotic pests and diseases. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry coordinates Australian Government response activities with states, territories and industry. See the national pest and disease Outbreak website for more information.
Australian Government coordination
We use the Australian Government Biosecurity and Agricultural Response Plan (AUSBIOAGPLAN) to coordinate Australian Government activities in response to an exotic pest or disease outbreak.
Our plan works with the Australian Government Crisis Management Framework.
