Emergency preparedness and outbreak response

The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources leads the Australian Government in minimising the impact of pests, diseases and contaminants on Australian agriculture, our environment, and people’s health. These outcomes are achieved by working with the state and territories, and industry stakeholders in peace time to develop and test emergency response plans and arrangements. During real-life pest and disease outbreaks, the department coordinates national resources, operational and technical support as well as public information.

Information about how we respond to outbreaks is available on the national pest and disease Outbreak website.
