FISH09/06 - East Timor - Import conditions for seafood

Date of issue: 13 July 2009
Date of effect: Immediate

Affected markets

East Timor only

Situation

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of East Timor has agreed to accept two types of certificates issued by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) for seafood imported into East Timor from Australia:

  1. For seafood sourced from establishments registered by AQIS to process seafood for export—Health Certificate FX46, issued by AQIS.

  2. For seafood imported into Australia and exported into East Timor without any processing or preparation in Australia—a relevant letterhead declaration issued by AQIS.  AQIS will require proof that the product has been legally imported into Australia—exporters requesting this letterhead declaration will need to provide to AQIS the import permit number for the product.  Refer to the AQIS website for more information.
