2017-59 - Grain and Seed Exports Program – Update to the Industry Management Plan for wheat and barley to China

1 December 2017

Purpose

The purpose of this Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry that the updated Industry Management Plan (IMP) to supply wheat and barley to the Chinese market is now available on Micor Plants.

Summary of changes and key points

  • The IMP to supply wheat and barley to the Chinese market has been updated in Micor Plants and now includes information about tolerances for this market.
  • The Protocols section of Micor Plants contains the tolerance tables for wheat and barley to China. Exporters and Authorised Officers (AOs) can apply for access to Protocol documents in Micor Plants.

Background

The Grain Industry Market Access Forum (GIMAF) has updated the IMP following China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine visit to Australia to review the Australian wheat and barley supply chain.

Exporter responsibilities

Exporters must ensure prescribed goods prepared for export are compliant with the importing country’s requirements.

Authorised Officer responsibilities

The AO must ensure the tolerances of the importing country have been met when inspecting grain or seed for export. AOs must be registered for access to Protocol documents on Micor Plants before they may inspect wheat or barley for export to China.

Contact information

If you have any questions regarding the updated IMP please email GIMAF Administration. For any other questions please email the Grain and Seed Exports Program or phone 02 6272 3229.
