Who does this notice affect?

All importers of plants, cats and/or dogs who will be required to use the Post Entry Biosecurity System during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to infrastructure maintenance, the Post Entry Biosecurity System (PEBS) will be unavailable from 23:00 to 23:59 Thursday 12 October 2023 (AEDT).

Action

Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.

Who does this notice affect?

Clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers and customs brokers—associated with importing goods that require BMSB treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September 2023 and 30 April 2024 (inclusive)).

All air cargo importers who are waiting on Biosecurity officers to screen cargo.

Detail:

The Integrated Cargo System (ICS) is currently experiencing an unplanned outage. As a result, Biosecurity officers are unable to launch the application resulting in delays to Air Cargo Importers awaiting their cargo to be screened.

Audits

Biosecurity officers from the department may need to conduct an audit of offshore manufacturing facilities and export pathways for biological goods, including:

  • Goods for administration to or consumption by animals

Audit process

Desktop audit

Through the desktop audit process, the department’s auditor will determine whether quality management systems are in place within the manufacturing facility which align with Australia’s biosecurity requirements.

Who does this notice affect?

Approved arrangements operators, customs brokers, importers, manned depots, and freight forwarders who are required to book and manage requests for inspections through the Biosecurity Portal.

Due to urgent system maintenance, the Biosecurity Portal will be unavailable from 22:00 to 23:30 Thursday 05 October 2023 (AEDT).
