This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise stakeholders that changes to inspection requirements for exports to New Zealand under the Export Plan for Fresh Produce from Australia to New Zealand (Export Plan) have now been completed.

This notice affects industry (importers of culture media from the USA) and biosecurity officers.
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) has recently concluded negotiations with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regarding government certifications for bulk culture media products imported to Australia.

This notice is applicable to any individual or entity that performs work for, or on behalf of, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. This includes contractors, consultants, third-party providers, Biosecurity Industry Participants and Approved Arrangements.

Approved arrangements operators, customs brokers, importers, manned depots, and freight forwarders who are required to book and manage requests for inspections through the Biosecurity Portal.
Due to scheduled system maintenance, the Biosecurity Portal will be unavailable from 22:00 to 23:59 Friday 04 August 2023 (AEST).
Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.

All shipping agents or operators of maritime conveyances who will be required to report pre-arrival information during this planned maintenance period.
Due to scheduled maintenance, the Maritime and Aircraft Reporting System (MARS) will be unavailable from 23:00 Wednesday 02 August to 01:00 Thursday 03 August 2023 (AEST).

Stakeholders associated with the biosecurity clearance of fresh avocados imported from New Zealand which are subject to biosecurity intervention on arrival. This includes customs brokers and importers.
Consultation to help inform how and when to phase out live sheep exports by sea has largely been completed.
