Who does this notice affect?

This notice is for all airlines, freight forwarders, pet transport companies, and exporters and importers of cats and dogs.

Export information

The department regulates the export of live animals, including cats, dogs and assistance dogs. There are specific regulatory requirements that must be followed to comply with export legislation, any relevant transport standards and importing country requirements.

2023-09: NEXDOC export certificate planned outage – 5 April 2023 – honey and apiculture products

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to notify exporters of honey and apiculture products a planned outage for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry’s (the department) export certification system using the Next Export Documentation (NEXDOC) system from 8.00pm to 10.00pm AEST on Wednesday 5 April 2023.

Attention:

Registered dairy exporters, manufacturers, agents, freight forwarders, approved export permit issuers and EDI users.

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) - Central and Regional offices.

Purpose

To notify Next Export Documentation (NEXDOC) system users of a planned export certificate outage.

United States quotas

The Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSTFA) has 13 tariff rate quotas for exports to the United States. The Department provides management and administration of the tariff rate quotas under the Export Control (Tariff Rate Quota – General) Rules 2021 (the Rules).

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has 4 tariff rate quotas for exports to the US. The Department only administers the US WTO supplementary TRQs volumes under the Export Control (Tariff Rate Quota – General) Rules 2021 (the Rules).

Japan quotas

The Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) has 8 tariff rate quotas for exports to Japan. The Department provides management and administration of the tariff rate quotas under the Export Control (Tariff Rate Quotas – General) Rules 2021.

Indonesia quotas

The Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) has 7 tariff rate quotas for exports to Indonesia. The Department provides management and administration of the tariff rate quotas under the Export Control (Tariff Rate Quota – General) Rules 2021 (the Rules). The IA-CEPA entered into force on 5 July 2020.

India quotas

The Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA) has 5 tariff rate quotas for exports to India. The Department provides management and administration of the tariff rate quotas under the Export Control (Tariff Rate Quota – General) Rules 2021 (the Rules).

UK and EU quotas

Australia – United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement

The Australia – United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA) has 10 new tariff free quotas for exports to the UK. The department will provide the management and administration of these quotas under the Export Control (Tariff Rate Quota – General) Rules 2021 (the Rules) and the Export Control (Tariff Rate Quotas – Sheepmeat and Goatmeat Export to the European Union and United Kingdom) Rules 2021.
