Environmental Biosecurity Advisory Group communiqué – meeting date: 10 November 2023
The Environmental Biosecurity Advisory Group (EBAG) met online on 10 November 2023.
EBAG members were updated on the priority environmental biosecurity work of the Environmental Biosecurity Office in DAFF and work undertaken by the Office of the Threatened Species Commissioner at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
The Australian Chief Environmental Biosecurity Officer Dr Bertie Hennecke briefed the group on developments regarding the red imported fire ant (RIFA) eradication program.

Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise that applications are now open for the accreditation of farms and packhouses, and the registration of treatment facilities, to export summerfruit to protocol markets for the 2024-2025 season.

Who does this notice affect?
Pre-border biosecurity treatment providers and clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers, and customs brokers associated with importing goods that require Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September and 30 April (inclusive) as sea cargo).
IAN 2024-07: All EXDOC RFPs must be progressed to complete (COMP) status within 45 days of being authorised.
