Government/Industry Fertiliser Supply Working Group Communiqué
Fertiliser Supply Working Group Meeting – 24 July 2026
The Government/Industry Fertiliser Supply Working Group met for the twelfth time on 24 July 2026.
The Fertiliser Supply Working Group received updates on the Economic Resilience Program under the National Reconstruction Fund on the uptake by fertiliser and agricultural chemical businesses and the biosecurity policy implementation for imported inorganic fertilisers.
The Working Group engaged in a deep dive discussion around data availability and data needs to inform decision making recognising that lack of reliable data impacts decision making. The group identified areas of opportunity to develop data capability both in the short and long term.
The Working Group received updates from industry with on-ground information for urea and other fertilisers.
The Working Group will reconvene on 31 July, to consider lessons from the recent fertiliser supply chain disruption and discuss opportunities to strengthen Australia’s preparedness and resilience to future fertiliser supply chain shocks.
