Government/Industry Fertiliser Supply Working Group Communiqué:
Fertiliser Supply Working Group Meeting – 29 May 2026
The Government/Industry Fertiliser Supply Working Group met for the eighth time on 29 May 2026.
The Working Group received an update on the Australian Government’s use of the Fuel and Fertiliser Security Facility, administered by Export Finance Australia. Two further agricultural-grade urea shipments have been supported through the facility this week, bringing in an additional 80,250 tonnes from Indonesia for use by Australian farmers. To date, 6 cargoes representing over 209,000 tonnes of urea has been supported through the facility.
The Government also noted that Export Finance Australia was working with a range of other fertiliser importers to understand and agree to the terms of the facility, which would enable them to receive price risk support for eligible shipments.
The Working Group discussed the ongoing work on international sourcing opportunities being undertaken by both industry and the Australian Government.
The Working Group noted phosphate-based fertiliser supply as a matter to keep a watch on, including the role of domestic production.
