Penalties for late payment of levies and charges

Late payment penalties will automatically apply if we do not receive a levy or charge payment by the due date.

Plan your payment to ensure we receive it by the due date.

Penalty amount

Penalties are calculated daily at a compounding rate of 2% of the unpaid amount each month, including any outstanding debt, until the amount is paid in full.

See more on how to lodge returns and pay levies.

Levies compliance

Our national compliance program helps Australian businesses understand and comply with their levy and charge obligations. We want to ensure that returns and payments are accurate and paid on-time.

Penalties apply when you don’t meet your obligations under levies legislation.

We can take steps to enforce your compliance. This can range from:

  • education and support
  • use of formal warnings
  • issuing infringement notices
  • civil action
  • criminal action, for the worst offending cases.

If you have questions about complying with levies laws, contact one of our regional compliance teams.

Thanks for your feedback.
