Overview
The New South Wales (NSW) Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) collaborated with researchers from Charles Sturt University to complete a social research project that identified key drivers and barriers to participation in syndromic surveillance.
The recommendations from this project will help NSW DPIRD decide whether to develop a syndromic surveillance platform. This would aim to allow for earlier detection of new and emergency diseases.
A report with the results of the project and recommendations for developing a syndromic surveillance system was completed in June 2024.
