Implementation of tamper-indicative seal and bolt seal in accordance with the legislative changes to Part 13 of the Export Control (Prescribed Goods – General) Order 2005 effective 20 November 2016 (2016-03)

Purpose

To advise departmental staff and industry of the Implementation date for tamper-indicative seal and bolt seal in accordance with the legislative changes in Part 13 section 13.10 Tamper-indicative seal and section 13.11 Bolt seal.

Scope

This notice applies to all export registered and relevant export listed establishments, and department staff.

Implementation plan for tamper-indicative seal and bolt seal on 20 November 2016

Any tamper-indicative seal and bolt seal with ‘DAFFA’ or ‘PI’ design must cease being used on 19 November 2016. After this date any seals with the old design ‘DAFFA’ or ‘PI’ must be isolated for supervised destruction and disposal.

Only seals with ‘AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT’ design can be used from 20 November 2016.

Responsibilities of establishments

To implement the change, establishments must:

  • order stock of seals with the new design using the order form attached to this notice (Appendix 1) and email the order form to North East Meat Stores. The order must be placed no later than 7 September 2016.
  • commence using only seals with the new design on 20 November 2016.
  • isolate all seals with the old design and email North East Meat Stores to arrange for their return or destruction

Responsibilities of departmental authorised officers

To implement the change, departmental staff verify each export registered establishment has:

  • ordered the seals with the new design by no later than 7 September 2016.
  • a plan in place to implement change over to the seals with the new design.
  • is only using seals with the new design from 20 November 2016.
  • Isolated all stock of seals with the old design and arranged return or destruction.
