MAA 2022-18: Update to the dairy category code review

Purpose

To notify dairy stakeholders of updates to the dairy category code review.

Key Points

The department has reviewed all dairy category codes currently used in the next export documentation (NEXDOC) system. This review has consolidated, removed, and renamed dairy category codes to provide greater clarity and consistency for exported dairy products.

An updated list is attached to this industry advice notice for reference. The department will implement these new codes in September 2022. Industry is reminded to update any export systems, training, and instructional material before the roll out with any required changes to the dairy category codes.

As previously advised in IAN 2022-06, since April 2022, NEXDOC no longer verifies that an AHECC code matches the product or category code on a request for export (REX). NEXDOC will only verify that the AHECC code provided is valid. It continues to be the responsibility of the exporter to ensure the correct AHECC code is used for the product being exported.
