Purpose

  • This Market Access Advice (MAA) provides an update - Taiwan has temporarily opened the market for egg and egg products under HS code headings 0407 and 0408 until the 31 December 2023.
  • This MAA supersedes MAA2021-04 issued on 19 April 2021 relating to the import restrictions of eggs and egg products to Taiwan.

Summary of key points

  • The department has received notification from the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ) and the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration that Taiwan has open their market to Australian egg and egg products for the following HS codes:
    • 0407.21.00.00-4 chicken eggs in shell, fresh
    • 0407.90.00.00-0 bird eggs, in shell, preserved or cooked
    • 0408.19.10.00-5 Egg yolks, frozen
    • 0408.99.10.00-8 Whole eggs, frozen
    • 0408.99.99.00-1 other similar articles
  • Further details can be found on BAPHIQ official Chinese website Quarantine Information for the Importation of Egg and Egg Products (baphiq.gov.tw)
  • Exporters are encouraged to work with their importer to ensure that product meets the current importing country requirements.
  • Exporters should note that the temporary opening of the market is set to end on 31 December 2023.
  • For table eggs, use certificate template EX46TW with endorsement 5170.
  • For egg products, use certificate template EX46TW with endorsement 5171.
  • Please note at this stage access is not available for egg and egg products from Victoria as new certification will need to be negotiated, as Taiwan does not recognise Victoria as free from avian influenza.
