MAA 2025-07: Fish and fish products: European Union: Updated export certification

Purpose

This Market Access Advice (MAA) is to inform industry of export certificate template updates for fish and fish products for human consumption to the European Union (EU).

Exporters may experience disruptions or errors when raising a Request for Export (REX) through the Next Export Documentation (NEXDOC) system between 8am and 12pm AEDT on Monday 3 November 2025 while the updates occur.

Summary of key points

Template updates are required to re-align certification with recently amended model export health certificates required by the EU.

New certificate templates (EUFXA3 and EUFXA4) will be made available for finfish, crustaceans, cephalopod molluscs, and their products due to new certificate endorsement requirements for aquaculture and wild origin products.

Existing certificate templates (EUFXB1-EUFXB5) for bivalve molluscs, marine gastropods, echinoderms, and tunicates only required administrative changes and there is no change to the certificate templates available for these products.

Exporters may experience disruptions or errors when raising a Request for Export (REX) through the Next Export Documentation (NEXDOC) system between 8am and 12pm AEDT on Monday 3 November 2025 while the updates occur. Please contact NEXDOC helpdesk if you experience any issues during or after this release period.

These changes do not affect the process exporters must follow when lodging a REX to obtain health certification. The correct health certificate templates will continue to automatically populate based on the product lines entered.

Certificates available for use from Monday 3 November 2025

  • A summary of the new and amended certificate templates available for the export of fish and fish products for human consumption are outlined in Table One below.
  • Please note that for consignments containing both non-viable aquaculture origin and non-viable wild origin finish or both live aquaculture origin and live wild origin crustaceans under the same REX, NEXDOC will automatically generate separate certificates for the wild origin and aquaculture products on the new templates.
  • Changes to certificates for marine gastropods, bivalve molluscs, echinoderms, tunicates, and their products (EUFXB1, EUFXB2, EUFXB3, EUFXB4, EUFXB5) are minor and editorial in nature (updates to regulation references and minor wording changes).
