Industry Advice Notice no. 2007/21: Mung beans - Legislation amendments - Revised exposure draft

12 July 2007

Further to IAN 2007/08, this notice is to invite comment on a revised exposure draft for the proposed incorporation of the Export Control (Mung Beans) Orders into the Export Control (Plants and Plant Products) Orders.

An exposure draft of the proposed amendments was made available at the commencement of the consultation period on 28 March 2007. Further consultation and comments received on the initial exposure draft has necessitated a revision of some of the proposed amendments including:

  • nil tolerance for certain contaminants;
  • rejection procedures upon detection of pests or contaminants;
  • re-presentation of rejected mung beans;
  • records to be retained for 2 years;
  • separate repeal orders for the Export Control (Mung Beans) Orders;
  • a specified commencement date for the amendment orders;  and
  • minor formatting changes, clarifications and deletions of redundant or inappropriate clauses.

AQIS has consequently extended the consultation period until 27 July 2007 to allow interested parties to comment on the revised exposure draft of the proposed amendments.

If you require a copy of the revised exposure draft please email Jillian Walsh, or phone (02 6272 3787).

All comments on the exposure draft must be forwarded to one of the following contact points by COB Friday 27th July 2007:
