Purpose
To advise exporters that the Government of Thailand has amended the protocol requirements for Australian cherry, table grape, citrus and persimmon exports to Thailand. All consignments arriving in Thailand from 19 November 2015 must comply with the revised import conditions.
Background
After negotiations between the Australian and Thailand governments, market access requirements for Australian cherry, table grape, citrus and persimmon exports to Thailand have been revised. The Thailand Department of Agriculture has published the import conditions in the Government Gazette and relevant protocols.
Summary of changes and key points
- Cherries – Amended cold treatment schedules for fruit sourced outside of fruit fly pest free areas (PFAs) in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.
- Table grapes – Amended cold treatment schedules for fruit sourced outside of fruit fly PFAs in Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.
- Citrus – For fruit sourced outside of fruit fly PFAs, all varieties of orange (Citrus sinensis), mandarin (Citrus reticulata) and lemon (Citrus limon) are now permitted.
- Persimmons – Irradiation treatment is now permitted.
