Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to notify LearnHub users of changes being implemented to create a more secure login to the system.
Summary of changes and key points
- From Wednesday 1 October 2025, a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) process will be implemented when users log in to LearnHub.
- Users who enter their username/email and password to log in to LearnHub will receive an email link to verify their email address. After verifying their email address, subsequent logins to Learnhub will trigger a One-Time Password (OTP) to be sent to the users email address that needs to be entered before access to LearnHub can be granted.
Note: Users will only need to verify their email address on the initial login post implementation of the MFA. - Stakeholders who are active on LearnHub will receive an email with instructions on how to access the system prior to the implementation date.
Background
The Australian Cyber Security Centre has developed the Essential Eight cybersecurity framework to help organisations protect themselves from cyber-attacks. We are committed to implementing the Essential Eight mitigation strategies to protect the privacy of our department and our stakeholders.
We will be implementing an MFA feature as an additional step to access LearnHub.
MFA is designed to reduce the likelihood of attackers exploiting vulnerabilities to gain access to systems.
User responsibilities
- Familiarise yourself with the timing of the MFA implementation and the instructions detailed in the ‘Accessing LearnHub for External Stakeholders’ email sent by the LearnHub team.
- On the initial login using the MFA, verify your email address.
- After verifying your email address and on subsequent logins, use the OTP provided to access LearnHub.
