2026-37: Authorised officers – Updated fees and charges

25 June 2026

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry and authorised officers (AOs) of updates to fees and charges for AO.

Summary of changes and key points

  • On 1 July 2026, fees and charges for AOs are changing.
  • The learning and assessment fee, which currently provides for a package of up to 5 job functions per application, is being split into individual items
    • eLearning, one-off fee of $130
    • training, per job function fee of $216
    • assessment, per job function fee of $216.
Note: These fees are correct from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 but may change after this time.
  • This means that AO applicants are only paying for what they need.
  • The changes will also provide AO applicants with flexibility to choose to complete eLearning, training and assessment while awaiting the results of their fit and proper person check, removing it as a bottleneck and streamlining the authorisation process.
  • To support the implementation of the new charge, all unpaid learning and assessment invoices will be cancelled at close of business (COB), 5:00pm AEST on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
  • AO applicants with unpaid learning and assessment invoices at COB on Tuesday 30 June 2026 will need to re-request training and/or assessment and pay the updated fees on or after 1 July 2026.

Background

On 12 June 2026, the department notified industry that the 2026–27 cost recovery implementation statements (CRIS) had been published. Refer to IAN 2026-33.

The new learning and assessment fee structure for AOs establishes equitable costs, provides greater flexibility and sets the department up to support future regulatory efficiencies.

Authorised Officer responsibilities

  • Read and familiarise yourself with the new AO fees and charges.
  • Pay all outstanding invoices by COB Tuesday 30 June 2026.
  • Submit any re-requests for training and/or assessment if invoices are not paid by COB Tuesday 30 June 2026.

If you have any questions regarding this IAN, please email the Authorised Officer Program.
