Changes to Japan Quotas under the Trans-Pacific Partnership

​​The below tables outlines in which calendar year the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP-11) provides a more favourable tariff-rate than the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) for specific products.

Edible Bovine Offal

Product Year
Fresh tongues and internal organs  30 December 2018
Frozen tongues and internal organs (excluding livers) 30 December 2018
Fresh and frozen cheek and head meat 1 April 2023
All remaining bovine offal products, fresh and frozen 1 April 2024

Pork

Product
As the tariff rates for pork vary depending on the product’s value, the better tariff rate could vary on a case by case basis. For this reason the department will continue to issue JAEPA certificates for pork if they are requested.

Poultry

Whole chicken fresh or chilled 30 December 2018
All other poultry excluding frozen bone in legs 1 April 2019
Frozen bone in legs 1 April 2020

Prepared and Preserved Meats 1
