34-2016 - Addition of profile questions for fertiliser commodities under tariff code 3824

20 May 2016

What has changed?

The department has included two new community profile questions to ensure that fertiliser commodities under tariff code 3824 will be lodged in the Agriculture Import Management System (AIMS), and be processed accordingly.

The tariff code affected is:

  • 3824.90.90.62 Other: organic

Items declared under this tariff code will now be asked:

  • Do the goods contain any ingredients derived from animals or microorganisms (including derivatives of fermentation)? ; and
  • Are the goods or any of their ingredients derived from plants with an end use of fertiliser?

The import conditions for fertiliser have not changed.

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to brokers and importers of fertiliser commodities under Tariff Code 3824: Prepared binders for foundry moulds or cores; chemical products and preparation of the chemical or allied industries (including those consisting of mixtures of natural products), not elsewhere specified or included.

What do I need to do?

Importers and brokers should continue to lodge documentation to the department as per their current practice. Importers and brokers should also be aware of the BICON import conditions for their commodity.

When does this notice take effect?

This profiling change will come into effect on Monday 23 May 2016.
