Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to importers of uncooked Australian wild caught prawns exported to Vietnam, processed and reimported to Australia and associated industry participants and retailers.
This notice updates industry advice notice 45-2017.
What has changed?
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has received written confirmation by Vietnam’s competent authority, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD), that it can meet import conditions included in the updated health certificate.
- The department will be accepting permit applications for uncooked Australian wild caught prawns exported to Vietnam for processing and re-imported into Australia from 15 June 2017.
- The department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions database system has been updated to reflect the new requirements.
Import permit applications for Australian wild caught prawns processed in countries other than Vietnam will be accepted once the competent authorities in these countries provide assurance that they meet Australia’s new import conditions (see industry advice notice 45-2017).
