190-2019 - Department of Agriculture biosecurity treatment conditions – what you need to know about your regulatory obligations industry information sessions

Who does this notice affect?

Methyl bromide and sulfuryl fluoride fumigators, and heat treatment providers, biosecurity industry participants who operate approved arrangements where fumigation and heat treatments are conducted, other interested stakeholders may include importers and custom brokers.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture (the department) is hosting a series of industry information sessions to advise treatment providers (specifically methyl bromide and sulfuryl fluoride fumigators, and heat treatment operators) as well as any other interested stakeholders on:

  • complying with the department’s treatment methodologies  
  • how to avoid non-compliance
  • new approved arrangement (AA) conditions
  • Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB)specific treatment requirements

In particular the session will cover:

  • consignment suitability
  • monitoring line and temperature sensor placement
  • packaging and wrapping
  • recording of information to demonstrate that each treatment complies with the requirements

The sessions will also provide industry with the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions about the AA application processes, conditions and treatment methodologies.

Information sessions

Industry members are invited to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the session for registration and tea, and coffee. Each session will run for approximately 3 hours in total with a halfway break for a morning/afternoon tea followed by a Q&A session at the end.
