86-2021: Port of Esperance is now a first point of entry for freight containers

4 May 2021

Who does this notice affect?

Vessel operators, shipping agents, importers, brokers, first point of entry (FPOE) operators and others.

What has changed?

The Port of Esperance FPOE determination has been amended to:

  • Determine the Port of Esperance as an FPOE for freight containers. As a result, prior permission from the department is no longer required to unload freight containers at the port.
  • Add Berth 2 as a biosecurity entry point (BEP) for freight containers. Berth 2 is the only BEP for freight containers at the port. Freight containers must only be unloaded at Berth 2 unless prior permission is granted by the department.
  • Designate Berth 1 as a BEP for inorganic bulk goods. Berth 2 is also a BEP for inorganic bulk goods.

Please see the Port of Esperance Determination registered on the Federal Register of Legislation for details, including vessel and goods permissions and BEP at the port.

Lists of FPOE and links to determinations are available at First points of entry and non-first points of entry for vessels.

Further information

Please see the department’s website for further information about FPOE and non-first points of entry for vessels.
