156-2022: Cat and Dog imports to Australia – Christmas shutdown arrangements

25 August 2022

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is for all airlines, freight forwarders, pet transport companies and importers of cats and dogs to Australia.

What has changed?

Companion animal services will remain fully operational until COB Friday, 24 December 2022 and will re-open at the commencement of business on Tuesday 3rd January 2023.

The last date for companion animal arrivals into the post-entry quarantine (PEQ) facility this year will be Sunday 11th December 2022 with the intention all animals will have undertaken 10 days quarantine and be available to be released from the facility by the 22 December 2022. PEQ do not accept bookings for companion animals from mid-December due to the shutdown of our key stakeholders who assist in managing the animal welfare and biosecurity risks of companion animals.

Companion animal bookings and arrivals into the Post entry quarantine facility will resume on Wednesday 4th January 2023.

We thank all our stakeholders for your cooperation throughout this year and look forward to continuing to work together with you to protect Australia's strong biosecurity status in 2023.
