What has changed?

The department is decommissioning a range of AQIS Commodity codes (ACC) in the Integrated Cargo System (ICS) to improve the CBIS lodgement process. We have listened to the requirement for better lodgement practices, which we can now deliver using profiling questions to identify and rule goods in for CBIS processing. This functionality was previously unavailable for CBIS, however with some enhanced system capability we have removed the need on most pathways for Industry to manually apply an ACC code to qualify their goods for CBIS. The changes are expected to increase the number of goods qualifying for CBIS, which should provide benefits to Industry by enabling risk-based intervention for commodities included on the scheme. The system changes are scheduled to be available in the ICS from the 2 March 2022.
