107-2024: Approved Arrangements Management Product (AAMP) is coming

31 May 2024

Who does this notice affect?

Biosecurity industry participants who have approved arrangements (under Chapter 7 of the Biosecurity Act 2015), particularly the managers and contact persons for these approved arrangements.

What has changed?

The department is introducing a new, more convenient way for the staff of biosecurity industry participants to access information about their approved arrangements - the Approved Arrangements Management Product (AAMP).

What is AAMP?

Beginning in June 2024, the Approved Arrangements Management Product (AAMP) will be released in a staged rollout to Biosecurity Industry Participants (BIPs) over the coming few months.

AAMP will enable BIPs who operate Approved Arrangements (AAs) to view and update their AA details via self-service without having to contact the department.

AAMP is part of the DAFF’s Simplified Targeting and Enhanced Processing Systems (STEPS) program. STEPS is an investment in the department’s imported cargo ICT systems and business processes to enhance Australia's biosecurity risk management by creating a faster, simpler and more integrated cargo clearance system.

What does AAMP mean for me?

AAMP will give you enhanced access to your own approved arrangements information and will enable you to easily make your own changes to some of that information, without needing to contact the department to request those changes.

What will I be able to see in AAMP?

You will be able to view information for each of your approved arrangements, including:

  • the approved arrangement reference number
  • the legal and trading names of the biosecurity industry participant
  • the status of the approved arrangement (e.g. approved, suspended)
  • details of the different classes under the approved arrangement
  • details of approved arrangement physical and postal addresses, ABN/ACN, phone number, email
  • names and contact details of the managers and contact persons for the approved arrangement
  • whether consent has been given for the department to publish details of the approved arrangement on its website.

What changes will I be able to make in AAMP?

You will be able to edit and update information that does not involve legislative changes for the approved arrangement. Examples of the types of information that biosecurity industry participants will be able to update include:

  • adding or removing people associated with the approved arrangement
  • updating the contact details for people associated with the approved arrangement
  • updating the trading name for the biosecurity industry participant
  • updating the contact details for the approved arrangement
  • giving or withdrawing consent for the department to publish details of the approved arrangement on its website

Examples of information that you will not be able to update include the:

  • legal name, ABN/ACN of the biosecurity industry participant
  • status of the approved arrangement (e.g. approved, suspended)
  • classes under the approved arrangement
  • physical address where biosecurity activities under the approved arrangement are required to be carried out at that address

These changes will still require you to contact the department, and will typically require applications for new or varied approved arrangements or requests for suspension or revocation of approved arrangements to be submitted to the department.

When will I be able to start using AAMP?

The department is progressively rolling out AAMP to biosecurity industry participants over the coming months. When AAMP becomes available for your approved arrangements, the department will email you information on how to register and log in to AAMP. This should only take a few minutes.

Is there anything I need to do now?

No. The department is emailing this Import Industry Advice Notice to all people who our records show as managers and contact persons for each approved arrangement. If you receive this Import Industry Advice Notice in an email from us, it means that you (and your email address) are already associated with an approved arrangement and so will receive a second email from us with your AAMP registration and login instructions some time in the next couple of months. If you do not receive an email from us about AAMP but believe that you should be associated with an approved arrangement, please speak to your approved arrangement manager. As soon as they have AAMP access (over the next couple of months), they will be able to grant you AAMP access by adding you as a contact person or manager to the approved arrangement.
