This notice affects importers of fresh horticulture produce and brokers.
What has changed?
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has approved the publication of import conditions for fresh jujubes (Ziziphus jujuba) from China for human consumption.
This approval has followed completion of the final report published in January 2020 and establishment of agreed phytosanitary measures with the exporting country.
The import conditions for fresh jujubes from China can be found in the BICON case ‘Fresh jujubes for human consumption’.
Further Information
A valid permit is required to import fresh jujubes from China.
A valid import permit must be issued by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) before the fruit is shipped to Australia.
An import permit may be obtained by submitting an import permit application to the department through BICON (use the 'Apply Now' button at the bottom of the BICON case).
