4 June 2025
Who does this notice affect?
This notice applies to all industry participants involved in managing biosecurity import inspections and treatments, including approved arrangement operators, customs brokers, importers, and freight forwarders.
Background information
The department is underway in the development of the Biosecurity Activity Reporting Tool (BART) and has started conversations with several software vendors who were identified via a request for information in an IIAN sent on the 7 November 2024: Import Industry Advice Notice - Vendor Nomination for Inspection and Treatment Reporting Products.
We would like to extend an invitation to interested industry participants and software vendors to collaborate with our technical teams in the department.
The sessions are an opportunity to discuss the approach for Business to Government (B2G) interactions, specifically API data exchange with BART, and to explore involvement and engagement options with ongoing co-design workshops.
They will be ongoing to understand specific industry participant and software vendor needs and to understand any concerns that they may have with enabling B2G channels.
What is requested?
The department requests that any interested parties (industry participants and those who engage with software vendors) indicate their interest by submitting the following details:
- BIP/Software Vendor name
- BIP/ Software Vendor key contact person’s name
- BIP/ Software Vendor key contact email address
- BIP/ Software Vendor key contact number
- BIP/ Software Vendor website address
Doing so will support the department in ensuring your needs are met in future reporting solutions and disruption to your business is minimised.
Please provide your nominations via email to STEPS@aff.gov.au before 5:00 PM (AEDT) on Friday 27 June 2025.
