239-2025: Introducing the Methyl bromide fumigation online training package for approved arrangement class 12.1 accredited persons

24 July 2025

Who does this notice affect?

Prospective and existing accredited persons operating under the department’s approved arrangement class 12.1 Methyl bromide fumigation.

What has changed?

The department, in partnership with the Biosecurity Training Centre at Charles Sturt University, has developed an online training package for fumigating with methyl bromide. This e-learning course aligns with version 3.0 of the department’s methyl bromide fumigation methodology. The online training package is replacing the fumigation training courses previously facilitated through commercial training organisations.

Completion of this self-directed e-learning course is required to become accredited under approved arrangement class 12.1.

Class 12.1 fumigators who are already accredited, are not required to complete the new e-learning training package, but doing so is encouraged. The package is a useful resource for refreshing fumigation knowledge and learning more about the updated methodology.

To access the training package and for further information on your responsibilities, visit the ‘Fumigation accreditation’ section on the department’s Training and accreditation for approved arrangements webpage.

Class 12.1 fumigators are encouraged to supplement this e-learning by completing other available training with industry bodies and registered training organisations.

Cost for enrolment

The course is currently available free of charge for a limited time to support its initial rollout and evaluation.

A fee may apply for course enrolment in the future.
