Who does this notice affect?
All importers and customs brokers who are required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment.
All clients submitting the below declarations, including those anticipating responses from the department in relation to these declaration types:
- Full Import Declaration (FID)
- Long Form Self Assessed Clearance (LFSAC)
- Short Form Self Assessed Clearance (SFSAC)
- Cargo Report Self Assessed Clearance (CRSAC)
- Cargo Report Personal Effects (PE)

As of: 12:25 Sunday 27 July 2025 (AEST).
Between 07:24 and 12:25 Sunday 27 July 2025 (AEST), the Cargo Online Lodgement System (COLS) and DAFF messaging* services were experiencing an unplanned service disruption.
This issue has since been resolved and clients can now submit lodgements as normal.
*Regarding ‘DAFF messaging’ – clients anticipating responses from the department in relation to the above-listed declaration types may have experienced some delays in receiving these responses, which may have been queued during the unplanned service disruption.
The backlog of messages queued during the unplanned service disruption has since been processed and clients should receive these as normal.

No action required. The department apologises for any inconvenience caused.
