What has changed?
DAFF Biosecurity officers will be conducting joint inspections with AMSA Port State Control officers during the 2025 Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Ballast Water Management. The campaign will run from 1 September to 30 November 2025 and will assess the vessel’s compliance with the Ballast Water Management Convention Globally, each vessel will only be subject to one inspection under this CIC during the period of the campaign. Inspection length will be variable based on the vessel’s preparedness and availability of the Responsible Officer. Where possible the concentrated ballast inspection will be combined with other inspections to avoid duplication.
Vessels are advised to prepare the following documents to help streamline the inspection process:
- Ballast Water Management Plan
- Ballast Water Record Book
- International Ballast Water Management Certificate
- Ballast Water Management System IMO Type Approval Certificate
- Ballast Water Management System Operation Maintenance and Safety Manual
