93-2025: Methyl Bromide and other biosecurity treatment updates - information sessions for Australian industry

Who does this notice affect?

Domestic stakeholders in the import and shipping industries – including treatment providers, vessel masters, freight forwarders, biosecurity industry participants, importers and exporters, customs brokers, principal shipping agents, and any other operators in the sea container supply and logistics chain.

What has changed?

The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) invites you to an information session outlining important information for the upcoming Methyl Bromide Fumigation Methodology version 3.0 coming into force 1 May 2025, as well as other biosecurity treatment policy updates.

The information sessions will run from 1pm to 4pm in each local time zone.

The agenda will cover the following:

  • Version 3.0 of the Methyl Bromide Fumigation Methodology
  • Changes to Approved Arrangement class conditions for 12.1s and 4.6s
  • Ethyl Formate Fumigation Methodology development
  • Review of the Sulfuryl Fluoride Fumigation Methodology
  • Next generation fumigation monitoring technology

Please note: These information sessions are separate from the Regulated Cargo Facility Forums (77G Depots, Approved Arrangements & RACA Operators) hosted by Freight Trade Alliance.

The session will be held in a hybrid format, offering both in-person attendance and online participation via Microsoft Teams Live. For those attending virtually we will send ticket holders an email containing the link to join the Microsoft Teams Live event the night before. For those wishing to attend in person, the physical venue details are listed below, and conference room will be shared closer to the event date.
